Financing & Incentives

Locally, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is offering a Home Performance Program, which offers rebates. Under the Home Performance, both programs also qualify for up to $500 in federal tax incentives. SMUD's Home Performance with Energy Upgrade California covers a multitude of services and installations, including duct sealing, attic insulation, air conditioning, new insulation, windows, cool roof and more. The greater the project and the larger the annual energy savings potential, the larger the rebate. Visit SMUD’s website here to learn more about their Home Performance Program.

In Northern California, PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric Company) also has a two component whole-house pilot program for energy-efficient remodeling projects. Rebates under this program can be as great as $4,000. Duct sealing, energy-efficient lighting, energy retrofits, and insulation for attics, walls, and floors are some of the home improvements that qualify under these programs. If your best energy-saving options include new or replacement appliances, the California Cash for Appliances program through the California Energy Commission is yet another source for rebates.
